HISTORY OF YELLOWSTONE ROBOTICS
Yellowstone Robotics was formed in September 2013 to support the efforts of robotics clubs to teach science, technology, engineering and mathematics to high-school students.
Yellowstone Robotics was founded by Bruce Reynolds and Rick Tyler, who had supported high-school robotics education since 2007 and 2006 respectively. In 2007 they founded the Exothermic Robotics club and built it into one of the most successful robotics education programs in the world. Many hundreds of high-school and junior-high-school students have been a part of the Exothermic Robotics club, and have won thousands awards at the local, regional, state, and international levels. Bruce Reynolds and Rick Tyler operated the Exothermic Robotics club for six years, turning it over to parents in 2013.
Bruce Reynolds was an instructor at the University of Washington. He taught Computer Science courses through the UW’s Professional & Continuing Education program.
Rick Tyler was Director of Education of Robot Mesh, where he created curricula and software for VEX robotics teams and schools. From 2010 until March 2016, he was Director – Online Challenges, and Regional Support Manager for the Robotics Education & Competition Foundation, responsible for states in the US Pacific Northwest, China, Taiwan, and Western Canada.
