Today, Jazz lists the world as its address. Of course, you must be familiar with the tune and listen closely to the chord changes to know where the melody is at any particular time of the tune in progress. Post-metal's unique sound is often very long and extremely drawn-out, utilizing oft-repetitive and simple riffs and guitar texturing to create massive buildups and musical climaxes. Later styles of jazz such as modal jazz abandoned the strict notion of a chord progression, allowing the individual musicians to improvise even more freely within the context of a given scale or mode.
